Gabriel H. Walta
One of the most internationally recognized Spanish comic artists, Gabriel H. Walta (Gabriel Hernández Walta) has won the Eisner Award and the Medal of Fine Arts from Granada. His bibliography includes titles such as Doctor Strange, Sentient, Phantom Road, and the masterpiece The Vision, scripted by Tom King.
Trained in Fine Arts and with an acclaimed career in illustration and painting, he made the leap to the American comic market after winning the Injuve award in 2002. He debuted as a professional comic book artist with IDW, working on series like Clive Barker’s The Thief of Always, The Veil, and The Suicide Forest, alongside El Torres.
Shortly after, he contributed to works such as The Werewolf of Fever Swamp and several short stories for DC Comics and Marvel, where he gained unanimous recognition from both audiences and critics. Series like Astonishing X-Men, Magneto, The Vision (winner of two Eisner Awards), and Doctor Strange solidified his reputation.
Recent works like Sentient, Barbarien Red Planet, Hellboy, the series HAHA, Norse Mythology, and the critically acclaimed success Phantom Road, scripted by Jeff Lemire, further establish Gabriel Walta as one of the most expressive and personal artists of his generation.
