A few years ago, French publisher Dupuis commissioned Lafuente to work on a special Spirou volume, set outside the continuity of the main series, with a script by Kid Toussaint.
Lafuente designed the main characters and illustrated the opening pages of the book—until the project was eventually shelved and never saw the light of day.
Thankfully, these original pieces remain, giving us a glimpse of what could have been.
Lafuente and Spirou? That’s the kind of magic many of us can only dream of.
