Pepe Larraz
Born in Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Larraz Solís, aka Pepe Larraz, is one of the most prominent superhero artists of his generation. He is best known for his revolutionary Marvel Comics work on X-Men and the House of
X miniseries.
Pepe studied sculpture at “La Palma” School of Arts nº1 and art history at the Complutense University, both in Madrid.
After beginning in fanzines, Pepe Larraz made his professional comic artist debut in 2003 with Cristi Y Sus Movidas. He would continue to publish in many more magazines, newspapers, and collective projects including Barcelona TM , Tales from the End of the World, Diez Dedos, Arruequen, and more.
In 2010, he finally made the leap to the US market with New Avengers: Luke Cage. His meteoric career continued at Marvel with acclaimed work in The Avengers, Uncanny Avengers, The Mighty Thor, Wolverine and
the X-Men, Star Wars: Kanan, and The Last Padawan.
In 2018, Pepe was selected as one of six artists for Marvel’s Young Guns Program, which spotlights the best emerging artists in the comics industry.
Alongside Jonathan Hickman, Pepe has revitalized Marvel’s mutant universe with their House of X miniseries. He is currently working with Mark Millar on Big Game, the first crossover event for Netflix‘s Millarworld imprint & the new series Blood Hunt, Marvel’s 2024 Event.
